NORWICH IN THE SNOW

Work has been exceptionally busy lately. I feel like I’ve had my head down pretty much since the start of January, becoming more or less impervious to what’s going on outside of our little flat. It hasn’t been helped by lockdown and icy roads making the cycle to the countryside more dangerous, but I know how lucky I am to be in a position where I’m busy amongst all this uncertainty.

Last week though, Storm Darcy finally made me look up – it snowed in Norwich! I can’t remember seeing the city blanketed in white, despite spending a lot of time here over the last eight years. It’s such a beautiful place anyway, but the prospect of seeing it in the snow had me setting the alarm to make the most of it before work (this is impressive if you know how much of a not-morning person I am). Cathedral Close and Bishop Bridge looked like a movie set, the old streetlamps reaching their full Narnia potential. Perhaps it felt a little more special knowing that if plans go ahead we may not be in the city for much longer- but for fear of jinxing it, I simply present to you: Norwich in the Snow.
